Breathe Deep in 2018

A new year always brings about a chance to start fresh. I recently attended a MindBodyGreen supper series event and it was pretty incredible. A couple gems to share: a Kundalini yoga meditation breath session led by Desiree Pais (@Benshen) that was simple and cleansing. Simply breathe in for 5 seconds, hold for 5 seconds and exhale for 5 seconds. The idea is to train your diaphragm until you work your way up to 20 seconds at a time. It was an easy enough exercise that I could see it working into my daily routine without putting too much pressure on myself. I also learned a fascinating fact regarding plastic contamination of our tap water. An incredible 94% of U.S. faucet water contains plastic fibers. We've invested in a very thorough filter at home (by Coway, who comes and services the unit every six months) but it was also a bold reminder to tote my reusable drinking container. I particularly love those from the S'well Elements Collection that look like gorgeous marble and stone.
